The COURTSPORTS brand was founded by Erik Sigurdson in 1997.  Today COURTSPORTS is an innovative leader in the maple sport flooring industry.   26 NBA teams, hundreds of NCAA colleges & universities, and thousands of athletic facilities and schools use our products and services.  Our brand is built on a passion for sports and competition.  We are committed to continuously strengthening our brands, products, and services and improve our competitive position so you can dominate the hardwood!

OUR PASSION IS BASKETBALL

In general COURTSPORTS specializes in hardwood basketball surfaces.   We build, sand, refinish, paint, and recoat basketball floors. We also perform work on racquetball, handball, squash, group exercise, and other hardwood surfaces.  Hardwood is the most common indoor playing surface.  New facilities are being built all over the country.  And every new and existing court floors requires daily, weekly, and annual maintenance.   Our business model is fueled by maintaining existing wood floors annually.  Then establishing long-term relationships with each customer so your business can grow rapidly.  

OUR PRODUCTS

COURTSPORTS offers a full product line of floor maintenance products so you’ll be sure to achieve excellent results on each project.  Our products have been tested over 23 years on thousands of courts so you can be sure to succeed and provide your customers with excellent results.   Even after a floor project is completed we have excellent floor cleaners and mops that you can sell to your customers during the volleyball/basketball seasons for additional revenue streams.

TRAINING

As a dealer you do not need any flooring experience.  You will be trained by our experts.  Training is extensive and it will include both on-site and in the classroom.  You will travel to our jobsites and work along side our staff.   If more training is needed it will be tailored to meet your needs.

DESIGN, STENCILS, DECALS

It takes a very creative person and years of experience to design beautiful basketball courts.  When you become a dealer our expert designers become part of your team!   Our designers will work directly with you to create digital renderings to show your clients.  After the design process has been approved we can send you the logo stencils and decals needed to complete your gym floor projects.  

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to rent a warehouse or office space?  This business is designed to offer dealers a very high rate of profitability.  We do not recommend renting a warehouse or office space to begin.  This business can be run from a small office inside your home.  And your garage can be used to store the necessary equipment needed.  As your business growns a small warehouse space may be needed.

What if I am not creative and need help with basketball court design and marketing literature?  COURTSPORTS has full color brochures and print material you can purchase at any time.  You can use this marketing literature to promote your business.  You simply add your contact information.  We also have designers who can assist you with your basketball court designs, stencils, and decals. 

How much does it cost to become a new dealer?   As with any new business it will require a lot of research and paperwork to get started.  You will need to get setup as a corporation, LLC, or sole proprietorship.  You will need to get insurance and workers compensation insurance if you decide to have employees.  Some states even require you to have a contractor’s license.  And you will need a computer, phone line, and Internet connection.  Your startup costs will vary depending on what you already own, or tools you may already have.

Do I need to purchase any inventory?   You are not required to purchase any inventory to begin.  Inventory is only purchased upon a purchase order or signed contract from a customer.  We only want you to purchase the materials needed for each project.  However it is a smart idea to keep some inventory in stock.

Do I need to have construction experience?  No experience is necessary to become a dealer.  However any experience you may have definitely aids to expedite the training.  This is a very unique business and we do not expect you to have any experience.

Do I need to hire employees?  Yes you will need employees to help you with this business.

What kind of profit can be estimated? It’s very difficult to estimate the profits in this business.  It depends on many variables including your motivation, goals, and location.  It is certainly going to take time and determination to be successful.  Most often it takes a minimum of 6-12 months to get setup, fully trained, and have a marketing campaign in full effect.  It’s more about the long-term success, than “get rich quick.”  We train you how to get new customers, but more importantly how to keep them coming back each year for your services.
